- "Disparate Precedents of Display" untersucht die Art und Weise, wie der Raum auf die Besucher wirkt, und stellt Ausstellungsdesign als eine genuin politische Praxis dar, die auf der Vergangenheit aufbaut und von ihr erbt - von vergangenen Ausstellungen, einflussreichen Ausstellungsgestalter*innen und Konventionen der Präsentation, die in unterschiedlichen politischen Systemen wurzeln.
Zwei Ausstellungen, die vom deutschen Staat in Auftrag gegeben wurden, dienen als Fallstudien. "Gebt mir vier Jahre Zeit" war eine nationalsozialistische Propagandaschau, die 1937 in Berlin stattfand. Sie feierte die Umgestaltung aller Bereiche der Gesellschaft unter der nationalsozialistischen Herrschaft seit der Umsetzung von Adolf Hitlers Vierjahresplan. Einundzwanzig Jahre später beauftragte die Bundesrepublik Deutschland denselben Architekten mit der Gestaltung des deutschen Pavillons auf der Expo '58 in Brüssel. Auf der Weltausstellung hatte der junge Nachfolgestaat zum ersten Mal die Gelegenheit, die kulturellen, wirtschaftlichen und politischen Parameter des nunmehr demokratischen Deutschlands auf internationaler Ebene zu präsentieren. Beide Ausstellungen lassen sich als Repräsentationen staatlicher Macht und politischer Narrative beschreiben - die eine im Namen des Krieges, die andere im Namen der Humanität. Maßgeblich beteiligt an beiden Ausstellungen war Egon Eiermann als Ausstellungsarchitekt.

- "Disparate Precedents of Display" looks at the way space affects visitors, exposing exhibition design as a genuinely political practice, building on and inheriting from the past – from past exhibitions, influential exhibition designers and conventions of display rooted in disparate political systems.
Two exhibitions, commissioned by the German state, serve as case studies. “Gebt mir vier Jahre Zeit” was a National Socialist propaganda show staged in Berlin in 1937. It celebrated the transformation of all sectors of society under National Socialist rule since the implementation of Adolf Hitlers 4-year-plan. Twenty-one years later, the Federal Republic of Germany commissioned the same architect to design the German Pavilion at the Expo ‘58 in Brussels. At the World‘s Fair the young successor state had its first opportunity to present the cultural, economic and political parameters of a now democratic Germany on an international scale. Both shows can be described as representations of state power and political narratives – one in the name of war and one in the name of humanity. Significant contributor to both exhibitions was Egon Eiermann in his role as exhibition architect.

- In dieser Arbeit setze ich mich mit unterschiedlichen Geschichtsbegriffen auseinander. Dafür dienen mir die Diskussionen um die deutsche Erinnerungskultur als Einstiegspunkt. Das Ziel ist es allerdings nicht, unmittelbar in die polarisierte Debatte einzugreifen. Stattdessen richtet sich der Fokus auf das ideologische Fundament, das verschiedenen Formen, mit der eigenen Geschichte umzugehen, zugrunde liegt. Den theoretischen roten Faden bildet das Werk "After Evil" des Philosophen Robert Meister. Darin kritisiert er die Haltung, die Vergangenheit zwar als schlimm zu verurteilen, aber gleichzeitig auch als abgetrennt von der Gegenwart zu betrachten. Herausgearbeitet werden die Argumente unter anderem anhand von Filmen von Alexander Kluge und Harun Farocki.

- In this work, I examine different concepts of history. The discussions surrounding the German culture of remembrance serve as my starting point. However, the aim is not to intervene directly in the polarized debate. Instead, the focus is on the ideological foundations that underlie different ways of dealing with one's own history. The work “After Evil” by philosopher Robert Meister forms the theoretical leitmotif. In it, he criticizes the position of condemning the past as evil, but treating it at the same as something that is separated from the present. The arguments are elaborated on the basis of films by Alexander Kluge and Harun Farocki, among others.

- Meine Arbeit zielt darauf ab, die Gefühle der heutigen chinesischen Jugend zu verstehen. Teure Wohnungen und stressige Jobs machen das Leben schwierig, besonders in überfüllten Städten, wo kaum Freizeit bleibt. Viele Menschen sehnen sich nach einem Ort der Entspannung, einem Zufluchtsort fernab vom Trubel des Stadtlebens.
Nehmen wir meinen Freund als Beispiel. Um innere Ruhe zu finden, hat er seine kleine Wohnung mit grünen Pflanzen gefüllt. Obwohl der Raum nicht groß ist, ist er seine kleine Oase. Inspiriert von einem koreanischen Gedicht über die Suche nach Trost inmitten der Menschenmengen, glaube ich, dass wir alle einen besonderen Ort brauchen – eine ruhige "Insel" inmitten des Trubels.
Wie finden wir diese innere Insel? Ich denke, das ist für jeden unterschiedlich. Vielleicht durch das Genießen von Kunst oder das Teilnehmen an einer ruhigen Teezeremonie. Für mich ist es das Drachenbauen. Das Drachenbauen ist eine kollektive Erfahrung, die Freude und Frieden bringt, ähnlich wie das Finden unseres eigenen ruhigen "Drachenwegs".
Mein Abschlussprojekt soll Menschen helfen, ihre eigene Friedensinsel zu entdecken. Ich habe einen Raum geschaffen, in dem Besucher diese Reise selbst erleben können. Wenn man eintritt, fühlt es sich an, als würde man meine Insel betreten. Das Design ist von der Ästhetik und Philosophie der chinesischen Song-Dynastie inspiriert, bekannt für ihre tiefe Verbindung zur Natur und Poesie.
In diesem Raum finden Sie eine Mischung aus realen und virtuellen Elementen – Pflanzen, Steine, Vögel und Wasser – all diese Elemente verschmelzen, um eine friedliche Umgebung zu schaffen.
Im Wesentlichen ist mein Kunstwerk sowohl ein Spiegelbild der menschlichen Suche nach innerem Frieden als auch eine Feier dieser Suche. Durch Kunst, Performance und den Kontakt mit der Natur hoffe ich, andere zu inspirieren, ihre eigene ruhige Insel inmitten des Lebenssturms zu finden.

- My work aims to understand the feelings of today’s Chinese youth. Expensive apartments and stressful jobs make life challenging, especially in crowded cities where there’s little time for relaxation. Many people long for a place of peace, a sanctuary far from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Take my friend, for example. To find inner calm, he filled his small apartment with green plants. Although the space isn’t large, it has become his little oasis. Inspired by a Korean poem about seeking comfort amidst the crowds, I believe we all need a special place – a quiet “island” amid the chaos.
How do we find this inner island? I think it’s different for everyone. Perhaps it’s enjoying art or participating in a quiet tea ceremony. For me, it’s kite-making. Kite-making is a collective experience that brings joy and peace, much like finding our own serene “kite path.”
My final project is meant to help people discover their own island of peace. I created a space where visitors can experience this journey themselves. When you enter, it feels as if you’re stepping onto my island. The design is inspired by the aesthetics and philosophy of the Chinese Song Dynasty, known for its deep connection to nature and poetry.
In this space, you’ll find a blend of real and virtual elements – plants, stones, birds, and water – all merging to create a peaceful environment.
Essentially, my artwork is both a reflection of the human search for inner peace and a celebration of this quest. Through art, performance, and connection with nature, I hope to inspire others to find their own quiet island amid the storm of life.

- Für das Solotheaterstück DAS KALTE HERZ wurde das 1827 veröffentlichte Märchen von Wilhelm Hauff als Vorlage für die Stückentwicklung genommen. Inhaltlich wurde der Fokus auf die gesellschaftskritischen Themen des Märchens von Leistungsgesellschaft, Streben nach Erfolg, Sehnsucht nach Anerkennung, Sicherheit und Liebe gelegt und in die heutige Zeit transferiert.

- For the solo play DAS KALTE HERZ, the fairy tale published in 1827 by Wilhelm Hauff, published in 1827, was taken as the basis for the development of the play. In terms of content, the focus was on the fairy tale's socially critical themes of meritocracy, striving for success, longing for recognition, security and love, and transferred to the present day time.

- Das ist ein Kinderspiel, not an Apple, 也就八年 ist meine erste Einzelausstellung, sowie mein Abschlussprojekt. Es ist eine tief persönliche Reflexion über meine Erfahrungen in Deutschland, die meinen künstlerischen Ansatz und mein konzeptionelles Denken maßgeblich geprägt haben. Mein Fokus auf sprachlichen Herausforderungen, kulturelle Kollisionen und die Gegenüberstellung verschiedener Welten ist in meiner Arbeit deutlich erkennbar.
Indem ich Fotografie als meine primäre Sprache nutze, konzentriere ich mich auf das alltägliche Leben, das in den Ecken der Städte verborgen ist – gesehen, aber vergessen, wie die Stuttgarter Straße in Karlsruhe. Dieses Thema wurde besonders deutlich, als ich nach der Pandemie in meine Heimatstadt zurückkehrte. Ich beobachte aufmerksam die marginalisierten Bereiche meiner Heimatstadt und die oft unsichtbaren Aspekte des täglichen Lebens meiner Familie. Diese sowohl ungewohnte als auch vertraute Perspektive vertieft sich in die Frage, wie das Leben in Deutschland meine Weltanschauung beeinflusst hat. Es betont die Komplexitäten, die aus Konflikten zwischen Sprachen und Kulturen entstehen.
Durch Fotografie, Video, Live-Performance und Publikation webe ich ein Netz aus Zeit, das Individuen, Ereignisse und Objekte aus parallelen Zeitlinien miteinander verknüpft. Jedes Fragment eingefrorener Zeit erzählt seine eigne Geschichte und präsentiert eine einzigartige Erzählung – sei es aus einer einheimischen Perspektive oder durch die Linse einer neuen Beobachtung, die durch eigne Erfahrungen in Deutschland geprägt ist.
Meine acht Jahre Leben in Deutschland scheinen in dieser acht Jahre alten Apfelkerzen eingefroren zu sein, sich entwickelnd und eine neue Form annehmend, während sie brennt und sich die Zeit ändert.

- My graduation project is a deeply personal reflection on my experiences living in Germany, which have significantly shaped my artistic approach and conceptual thinking. I focus on language challenges, cultural collisions, and the juxtaposition of different worlds, all of which are evident in my work.
Using photography as my primary language, I focus on the everyday life hidden in the corners of cities – seen but forgotten, such as Stuttgarter Street in Karlsruhe. This theme became particularly pronounced upon my return to my hometown after the pandemic. I keenly observe the marginalized areas of my hometown and the neglected aspects of my family's daily life. This both unfamiliar and familiar perspective delves into how living in Germany has impacted my worldview, emphasizing the complexities arising from conflicts between languages and cultures.
Through photography, video, live performance, and publication, I weave a web of time, intertwining individuals, events, and objects from parallel timelines. Each fragment of frozen time tells its own story, presenting a unique narrative – whether as a native perspective or through the lens of a new observation shaped by my experiences in Germany.

- Das Projekt „Crotto Collection“ untersucht den Raum des Badezimmers von der funktionalen Nasszelle bis zum häuslichen Refugium. Trotz ihrer Vielfalt teilen Baderäume ein zentrales, funktionales Element: die Sanitärkeramik.
Das Projekt beschäftigt sich mit den Gestaltungsmöglichkeiten durch die Übersetzung gebrannter Sanitärkeramik in ein neues Material. In Zusammenarbeit mit der Firma Geberit GmbH wird die Zusammensetzung des Materialentwurfs untersucht, auf ihre Eigenschaften geprüft und ein Gestaltungskonzept für Badezimmeraccessoires entwickelt. Basierend auf den Forschungsergebnissen wird ein Konzept entwickelt, das als Ansatz dient, keramische Abfälle innerhalb der Produktionskette einer Industrie weiter zu verwerten. Parallel zu verschiedenen Fliesenformen wird ein Zubehörset bestehend aus Spiegelhalter, Becher und Seifenschale entworfen. Darüber hinaus werden Vasen aus Toilettenformen entwickelt, als Symbol für die Ausweitung des Badezimmers in andere Wohnräume.

- The project “Crotto Collection” examines the bathroom space from the functional wet room to the domestic refuge. Despite their variety, bathrooms all serve a common purpose. The central component of any bathroom is the sanitary ceramics.
This fact gives rise to the project, which deals with the design possibilities of translating fired sanitary ceramics into a new material. In collaboration with Geberit GmbH, material properties and usability are being investigated. Based on the research results, a design concept is developed that serves as an approach to translate ceramic waste within the production chain of an industry. Parallel to different shapes of tiles, an accessory set consisting of a mirror holder, a tumbler and a soap dish is created. In addition, vases are designed from toilet forms, as a symbol of extending the bathroom space into other living spaces.

- „cool pieces” beschäftigt sich mit den Auswirkungen des Klimawandels auf den menschlichen Körper und deren Hitzeanpassung. Mit einem Open-Source Gedanken präsentiert das Projekt ein Ensemble von drei tragbaren Objekten, deren Design vielfältige Facetten eines simplen Fächers aufgreift, welcher einer der zugänglichsten Methoden zur Kühlung des Körpers darstellt. Das Set umfasst einen Sonnenponcho, eine entfaltbare Kopfbedeckung sowie einen Handfächer, um eine wirksame Kühlung zu gewährleisten. Ein zentraler Gedanke bei der Entwicklung der Objekte war die Überwindung finanzieller Barrieren, um eine breite Teilhabe zu ermöglichen. Aus diesem Grund werden sämtliche Anleitungen zur unentgeltlichen Nutzung auf der Website zur Verfügung gestellt, um eine nahezu kostenfreie Herstellung zu gewährleisten. Besonderes Augenmerk wurde dabei auf die Verwendung handelsüblicher Nähmaschinen gelegt, da sie flächendeckend verfügbar sind und somit für eine breite Bevölkerungsschicht zugänglich ist.
- „cool pieces” beschäftigt sich mit den Auswirkungen des Klimawandels auf den menschlichen Körper und deren Hitzeanpassung. Mit einem Open-Source Gedanken präsentiert das Projekt ein Ensemble von drei tragbaren Objekten, deren Design vielfältige Facetten eines simplen Fächers aufgreift, welcher einer der zugänglichsten Methoden zur Kühlung des Körpers darstellt. Das Set umfasst einen Sonnenponcho, eine entfaltbare Kopfbedeckung sowie einen Handfächer, um eine wirksame Kühlung zu gewährleisten. Ein zentraler Gedanke bei der Entwicklung der Objekte war die Überwindung finanzieller Barrieren, um eine breite Teilhabe zu ermöglichen. Aus diesem Grund werden sämtliche Anleitungen zur unentgeltlichen Nutzung auf der Website zur Verfügung gestellt, um eine nahezu kostenfreie Herstellung zu gewährleisten. Besonderes Augenmerk wurde dabei auf die Verwendung handelsüblicher Nähmaschinen gelegt, da sie flächendeckend verfügbar sind und somit für eine breite Bevölkerungsschicht zugänglich ist.

This diploma project details the material stream of synthetic plastics through a reverse chronological approach. It combines field research, visual documentation, and material experimentation to retrace the journey of plastics from their final products back to their origins in petroleum.
‘block to blob’ includes visits to various sites in the production chain, such as manufacturing facilities, oil refineries, pipelines, and extraction sites, concluding in a forest ecosystem, where crude oil naturally seeps to the earth's surface. These experiences are compiled into a research publication that follows this reverse narrative.
A video installation documents the visited locations, providing visual context for the industrial processes, hidden infrastructure and the natural substance in the forest. Additionally, a series of objects made from petroleum-coated wood and polystyrene grounds the project in tangible materials.

Konzipiert als wachsende Plattform, die die Fachbereiche der Staatlichen Hochschule für Gestaltung miteinander verbindet, wird das Labor als Raum für Präsentation, Bildung und Wissensvermittlung genutzt.
Das Bio Design Lab konzentriert sich auf die lokale Region, ihre Ressourcen und Möglichkeiten und zielt aktiv darauf ab, die Produktionsweisen in Karlsruhe und Süddeutschland umzugestalten und neu zu überdenken. Zur Interaktion mit diesen Themen und Materialien, sowohl im digitalen als auch im physischen Raum, lädt das Labor lokale ExpertInnen und BesucherInnen gleichermaßen ein an gemeinsamen Projekten zu arbeiten.
Spuren dieser Aktivitäten komplementieren ein ständig wachsenden Netzwerk.Das Wissen über diese Ressourcen wird durch die Erstellung eines Know-how-Glossars und einer Materialbibliothek destilliert, durch virtuelle und physische Workshops vermittelt, sowie durch die Präsentationen herausragender Projekte, die sich mit nachhaltigen Materialien befassen, kommuniziert.
Das Labor fungiert als Inkubator und Modell für Zusammenarbeit und Produktion, das im Einklang mit dem aktuellen Wandel der Staatlichen Hochschule für Gestaltung Karlsruhe steht.

- The Bio Design Lab is a hybrid and evolutive environment that exists in both the digital and physical space. Conceived as a platform for connection and collaboration with local partners and using local resources, the Lab hosts the presentation, education and transmission of knowledge. As students and experts are invited to work on bio-design related projects, visitors can explore and interact with the Lab’s production and lines of inquiry.
Projects within the Lab focus on the local region, its materials and possibilities, and actively aim to reshuffle and rethink modes of production in Karlsruhe and the south of Germany. Topics under exploration include Algae, Soil, Plants, Body, and Agriculture. To interact with these themes and related materials, both within the digital and physical space, the Lab invites local experts and visitors alike.
Within the Bio Design Lab, regional resources are collected by connecting with local partners; they are then distilled through the making of a know-how glossary and a material library, aiming to develop local materials. The knowledge around these resources is disseminated through virtual workshops and multimedia presentations of outstanding projects dealing with sustainable materials. Ultimately, traces of these activities will remain in a constantly growing network, both in the digital platform and in physical displays of existing and future objects.
The Lab works as an incubator and a model for collaboration and production that is in line with the current transformation of the Karlsruhe University of the Arts and Design Karlsruhe. It was first presented to the public in the context of Critical Zones, an exhibition at ZKM | Center for Art and Media.

- Bei den ausgestellten Arbeiten handelt es sich ausschließlich um Arbeiten neueren Datums. Bis auf die Arbeit „Treptow“ aus dem Jahr 2002 sind alle Arbeiten in den letzten 10 Monaten entstanden.
In meinen Arbeiten setze ich mich mit dem „Modellieren von Landschaft“ auseinander. Die Skulpturalität oder auch die Landschaftsmodellierung bilden den Mittelpunkt meiner Arbeiten. Die Form und deren illusionistisches Spiel treten dabei immer mehr in den Vordergrund. Ungewöhnliche Blickwinkel lassen den Standpunkt des Betrachters unklar und schaffen eine Unsicherheit über das Abgebildete. Durch eine bestimmte Art der Abbildung der Landschaftsskulpturen verlieren sie ihre ursprüngliche Bedeutung und zeigen oftmals die Absurdität der Handlungsweise des Menschen.
Alle Bilder sind in einem analogen Aufnahmeverfahren mit einer Großbildkamera entstanden. Nur unwesentliche digitale Eingriffe sind nötig, um dem abgebildeten Bildcharakter zu verleihen. Das bewusste Aufsuchen von ungewöhnlichen Orten und Blickwinkeln lässt oftmals die Vermutung einer digitalen Montage zu. „Berge versetzen“ ist eine Metapher sowohl für den plastischen als auch den skulpturalen Umgang mit Landschaft. Das Wegnehmen und Hinzufügen ganzer Berge oder Bergteile stehen stellvertretend für die Mächtigkeit des Eingriffs des Menschen in die Natur.

- The exhibited works are all recent. With the exception of the work “Treptow” from 2002, all the works were created in the last 10 months.
In my works I deal with the “modeling of landscape”. Sculpturality or landscape modeling is the focus of my work. The form and its illusionistic play increasingly come to the fore. Unusual perspectives leave the viewer's point of view unclear and create uncertainty about what is depicted. By depicting the landscape sculptures in a certain way, they lose their original meaning and often show the absurdity of human behavior.
All of the pictures were taken using analog photography with a large-format camera. Only insignificant digital interventions are necessary to lend the depicted image character. The deliberate search for unusual locations and angles often leads to the assumption of a digital montage. “Moving mountains” is a metaphor for both the plastic and sculptural treatment of landscape. The removal and addition of entire mountains or parts of mountains are representative of the power of human intervention in nature.

- "Bad Readings" zeigt Manifestationen affektiver und körperlicher Modi der Ausstellungserfahrung, die während eines im August 2020 von Diane Hillebrand einberufenen Workshops am Badischen Kunstverein entstanden. Abseits normierter und normalisierender Rezeptionsmuster näherte sich die "Bad Reading Group" der Ausstellung "If It’s For The People, It Needs To Be Beautiful, She Said" des Künstlers Jeremiah Day, die während der ersten Jahreshälfte im Kunstverein zu sehen war.
